Wondai Country Running Festival

The Wondai Country Running Festival is a multi-day sports event held in rural Wondai, located approximately three hours northwest of Brisbane. The festival features a variety of distances and terrains, utilizing both the South Burnett Rail Trail and the nearby McEuen Forest.

Participants can choose from events held on Saturday and Sunday. The Saturday afternoon forest trail runs take place in the McEuen Forest, featuring an undulating cross-country course through spotted gum and wattle woodland. The Sunday morning events are held on the South Burnett Rail Trail, which offers a smooth bitumen surface with gentle gradients. All races start and finish on the rail trail behind the Wondai Town Hall.

A "Doubleup" option is available for those who complete a forest trail run on Saturday and a rail trail run on Sunday. Participants who select this combination are eligible for a gift of local produce. The festival also includes community activities such as a social BBQ at the Wondai Art Gallery and a ticketed Country Dinner at the Wondai Town Hall.

Available distances include:

  • 42.195 km Marathon
  • 21.098 km Half Marathon
  • 21.1 km Forest Trail Run
