Wondai Country Running Festival

The Wondai Country Running Festival is a competitive running event held annually in the rural town of Wondai, located approximately three hours northwest of Brisbane, Queensland. The ninth edition is scheduled for the weekend of 27-28 June 2026.

The festival offers a wide range of events over two days. On Saturday, activities include a 1km time trial, a 1km all-abilities race, and a 2km family fun run. In the afternoon, there are two cross-country trail runs through McEuen Forest: a 21.1 km and an 11.1 km event. The 21.1 km trail run is part of the Trail Runners Association of Queensland calendar.

On Sunday morning, participants can choose from four events on the fully sealed bitumen surface of the South Burnett Rail Trail: a marathon, a half marathon, a 10 km, and a new 5 km event. Runners who complete a Saturday afternoon trail run and a Sunday morning run receive a gift of local produce.

All events start in the centre of Wondai township on the rail trail behind the Wondai Town Hall, within walking distance of the town centre. The courses feature manned road crossings, regular toilet facilities, drinks stations, and on-course first aid. Participants can collect their race packs on Friday afternoon or Saturday.

Registration is online and follows a tiered pricing structure with Super Early Bird, Early Bird, Normal Entry, and Late Entry rates. Festival apparel, including singlets, t-shirts, and a unisex long-sleeved shirt, is available for pre-order. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
