Wondai Country Running Festival
The Wondai Country Running Festival is an annual weekend of competitive and community running held in rural Wondai, Queensland, over the fourth weekend in June. The event began in 2018 and in 2027 marks its tenth edition.
Races use two main surfaces. Forest trail events start on the rail trail and traverse the McEuen forest through Spotted Gum and Wattle woodland. Rail-trail events run along the South Burnett Rail Trail, which has a fully sealed bitumen surface. Road crossings are manned by the SES. First aid is available in Wondai and on the courses. There are regular toilet facilities and drinks stations, and start points are within walking distance of the town centre. Organisers note there is plenty of free parking in the centre of Wondai.
Event options include several distances and formats:
- 21.1 km McEuen Forest Trail
- 11.1 km McEuen Forest Trail
- Marathon on the rail trail
- Half marathon on the rail trail
- 10 km rail trail run
- 5 km rail trail run
- 1 km Time Trial and 2 km Family Fun Run

The 21.1 km event is listed on the Trail Runners Association of Queensland calendar. Bib collection is arranged across festival days and is combined with a social BBQ at the local art gallery. The 1 km time trial directs entry fees to Ride for Relay. Runners who complete a Saturday forest trail and a Sunday run are offered a gift of local produce.
