Course and logistics

The course is a technical, mostly single-track out-and-back on the Elk River Hiking Trail. The trail is a measured forest route with limestone bluffs, rock formations, and scenic vistas. The 25K includes three aid stations and the 12K has one turnaround aid station. All aid stations are unmanned and supply only water; no cups are provided, so runners need to carry their own bottles and any fuel. Packet pickup takes place at the Outlet Channel Group Shelter, located on the north side of the Elk City Lake dam, which is also the start/finish area.

Trekking poles are allowed. Dogs are permitted but must be on a leash. Race rules include no littering, no stashing supplies along the course, and immediate notification of race staff or an aid station if a runner drops out. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
