Winter Solstice Fun Run
The Portland Winter Solstice Fun Run takes place on Sunday 21 June 2026 and is organised by the Portland Runners Club. The event offers several run and walk options plus a free 1 km Kid's Dash. Courses are not suitable for prams or dogs.
The event program includes these distances and entry fees:
- Irish Mad Mile entry fee $20
- 9 km Lagoon and Foreshore entry fee $50
- 15 km Lighthouse to Lighthouse entry fee $70
- 25 km Lighthouse to Lighthouse Trail entry fee $90
- 1 km Kid's Dash free
The 15 km course runs from Cape Nelson Lighthouse to town via Scenic and Cape Nelson Roads. The 25 km course includes trail sections that use parts of the Great South West Walk. The Irish Mad Mile runs through the town centre and is in its second year.
Registration is open until race day and on-the-day entry is available. Some races use buses that depart from the Ploughed Field on Bentnick Street. Bib collection takes place on the event day at the Ploughed Field across from the hospital. Detailed maps and a video are provided for the courses.
