2026 Winter Solstice

The Winter Solstice is a multi-distance running and walking event organized by the Portland Runners Club in Victoria, Australia. The event takes place in and around Portland, utilizing various natural landmarks including the Fawthrop Lagoon, the foreshore, and the Cape Nelson Lighthouse. Participants can choose between several competitive and non-competitive categories.

The courses are designed to showcase the local scenery, with specific routes designated for walkers and runners. The 15 km and 25 km events begin at the Cape Nelson Lighthouse, with bus transportation provided from the Portland Ploughed Field to the starting location. The shorter distances and the mile event start and finish at the Portland Ploughed Field, located opposite the hospital.

  • 25 km Yumbah Trail run
  • 15 km Lighthouse-to-Lighthouse run and walk
  • 9 km Fawthrop Lagoon and Foreshore run and walk
  • 1 mile Irish Mad Mile (for ages 10 and over, or younger with an adult)
  • 1 km Kids Dash

The event serves as a fundraiser, with a portion of each entry fee donated to Beats Cycle for Hope. Participants should note that the course terrain is not suitable for prams or dogs.
