Wiley Canyon Ultra - Lexington, Nebraska
Wiley Canyon Ultra is a set of running events held in Lexington, Nebraska, with courses that use paved and gravel roads and pass through Wiley Canyon. Distances offered include:
- 35 miles
- 10K
- 5K
The ultra is roughly 35 miles and follows an out and back route that starts and finishes at Kirkpatrick Memorial Park. The course begins on blacktop in town and transitions to gravel, with a small section on a minimum maintenance road. Runners encounter hills once they reach Wiley Canyon Road. Shade along the route is minimal.
Aid stations are provided on the ultra approximately every 4 to 5 miles and offer Tailwind nutrition, water, and snack items. There are no aid stations on the 5K or 10K. The ultra allows one drop bag at the halfway aid station, which will be transported to the aid station and returned to the finish. Athletes are expected to carry supplies for any specific nutritional needs and are advised to plan hydration for hot August conditions.
Equipment rules include required shoes for all runners and required headlamps for ultra runners while running before sunrise with a 200 lumen minimum. Safety reflective clothing is recommended. The event is self supported on course; outside aid or crew support is not allowed.
Packet pick up is on the Friday before the race at the Grand Generation Center, 407 E. 6th Street, Lexington, NE. Race day parking is at the City of Lexington Swimming Pool parking lot at 10th and Monroe Street.
Trophies are awarded to the top three men and women in the ultra, and all ultra finishers receive a medal. Registration includes an event t shirt; sizes are guaranteed only if registered by August 1, 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
