Whiterock Ultra: 50 Mile & 50K, July 25, 2026
Whiterock Ultra is a trail running event held at Whiterock Conservancy in Coon Rapids, Iowa. The event offers two distances:
- 50 miles
- 50 km
The course is made from a combination of looped trails commonly called the Red Loop, White Loop and Blue Loop. Published loop distances include the Red Loop at 7.6 miles and the White Loop at 11.6 miles. In published route notes the 50 mile configuration uses three Red Loops, one White Loop and one Blue Loop, while the 50K uses one Red Loop, one White Loop and one Blue Loop; distances are described as approximate.
Pre-event activities include Camp Whiterock, a free weekend program that provides opportunities to preview the course in full, run at night, camp, share food, and meet other runners. The event publishes an athlete guide and offers course preview runs on individual loops.
Finisher awards are handcrafted from reclaimed barnwood; registrants who meet the organizer’s personalization deadline receive plaques engraved with name, date and distance. Recent event swag has included a portable cooler with a capacity for up to 16 cans.
The event maintains an inclement weather policy that allows officials to delay, alter the route, or cancel the race for safety. Alternative rain routes may use gravel roads and a safety vest may be required if the course is moved off trail. Designated safe locations on the property include the River House and several campground shower houses. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
