White Peak Marathon and Festival of Running

The White Peak Marathon is an off-road marathon held on 16 May 2026 on former railway trails in the White Peak area. The route runs from Thorpe to Cromford Meadows, first along the Tissington Trail to Parsley Hay and then along the High Peak Trail into Cromford. Surfaces are firm compacted limestone and cinder, with one road crossing just before 14 miles.

The event is part of a Festival of Running that also includes a half marathon and a 10K. The half marathon follows the High Peak Trail from Friden to Cromford. The 10K follows the High Peak Trail from Harborough Rocks to Cromford.

The marathon route undulates along the dales and features a series of descents in the later miles, including a steep final mile down to the Cromford canal at High Peak Junction. There are seven feed stations on the marathon course providing water only; personal drinks are permitted. Limited access points along the trail mean cut off times apply at Friden, Minninglow, Longcliffe and Middleton Top.

Race headquarters and the finish are at the Gothic Warehouse on Cromford Wharf, where toilet and refreshment facilities are available. Free car parking is provided in the field next to the rugby club car park. Registration takes place at the Gothic Warehouse. Entry fees, refunds and transfer rules apply and entries close when limits are reached or by the published closing date. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
