Westcountry Ultra 100 Miler
Taunton, United Kingdom • 9-10 May 2026
Event details
The Westcountry Ultra is a 100 mile ultramarathon held Saturday 9th - Sunday 10th May 2026. Entry fee is £100. The published elevation is 9,538 ft and the time limit is 32 hours. The start location is Canal Road, Taunton, TA1 1PN and the finish is at West Somerset College, Bircham Road, Minehead, TA24 6AY. Course records are 18:23:40 (male, 2019) and 24:18:56 (female, 2017).
Course and support
The route combines the Flat 50 and Hilly 50 courses and follows sections of the Taunton to Bridgwater canal path, the River Parrett Trail, the England Coast Path and the South-West Coast Path. Other sections are waymarked with red and white tape and arrow signs. A GPX file and further race information are sent to entrants in advance. Tracking was introduced in 2025 and will be used as a safety measure.
There are 13 aid stations. The race is run on a cupless basis, so runners must carry bottles and a cup if they want drinks from aid stations. Typical aid station supplies include water, coke, squash, sandwiches, crisps, fruit, nuts, sweets and other snacks; some overnight stations have offered hot food in previous years. Professional medics cover the event and entrants are advised to follow emergency procedures if needed. Pacers are permitted from the half way point at West Somerset College. Small drop bags are allowed at the halfway aid station. A recommended kit list is provided, including waterproof jacket, hat and gloves, headtorch with spare batteries, high-visibility clothing, whistle, compass, phone and at least one 500 ml water bottle.
