The West Line Winder is a trail running event in Buena Vista, Colorado, scheduled for September 26, 2026. The event is organized by Freestone Endurance and hosted by 14er Fest. It is permitted on San Isabel National Forest (Salida Ranger District), Bureau of Land Management lands, Upper Arkansas Headwaters Recreation Area, and the town of Buena Vista. Registration for the 2026 running opens January 1, 2026. The event offers an option to pair with the Sawatch Ascent 50k for the Sawatch 50/50 challenge. Deferral policy: registrants may defer 50% of their entry to the following year if requested by September 1; there is no refund for cancellations.
Course and logistics
Distances offered:
- 50K : 30.6 miles; 4,000 ft ascent; average elevation 8,500 ft.
- 30K : 18.1 miles; 2,080 ft ascent; average elevation 8,260 ft.
The 50K course surface is 22.4 miles of singletrack, 6.9 miles of forest (gravel) road, and 1.3 miles of paved road. The 30K course surface is 16 miles of singletrack, 1.6 miles of forest/gravel road, and 0.5 miles of paved road. Cutoffs are 11 hours for the 50K and 10 hours for the 30K. The race uses a town-area start/finish located near the intersection of E. Main St and N. Court St., Buena Vista (coordinates 38.8432, -106.1279). Offsite camping is available at the Sawatch Ascent start/finish near Mount Princeton Hot Springs for $15 per night; spaces limited to 35.
