Course, race options and policies

The course is a loop that combines about 50/50 flowy single-track trail and dirt service road with rolling hills and wooded sections. Each loop has roughly 370 feet of elevation gain and loss and passes by Baum Lake. An aid station and staging area at the start/finish location will offer snacks, water, electrolyte drinks, soda, hot made-to-order food, and a broth bar. All distances and timed events use the same loop layout.

Burro rules: entrants bring their own burro and must provide humane care. For an official finish, the burro must wear a pack saddle carrying a shovel, pick, and pan. Maximum rope length is 15 feet. Swag and awards include T-shirt, buff, coaster, medals for loop completion, and prizes for top mileage including a cash pot and buckles for 100-mile achievements. Run the Burney Mountain 100, a rugged 100 mile loop through Lassen National Forest with 15,000 feet of climbing and sweeping views of Mount Lassen and Mount Shasta. On site camping, race support and a post race meal complete the weekend.
