Wapiti Bush Run
Wapiti Bush Run - 29 August 2026
The event takes place at the Gronlid Cross Country Ski Trails in the Fort à la Corne Island Forest, about 46 km north of Melfort. The Melfort Cross Country Ski Club maintains nearly 20 km of trails year round. The forest features sandy trails, birch bluffs, aspen groves and deep pine stands; wildlife can be present and visitors are asked to follow Leave No Trace principles. Outdoor restroom facilities are on site.

- 2.0 km Wild Ones Fun Run - Cabin Trail to Skate Trail loop, about 2.5 km
- 5.5 km Race/Run/Jog - Ridge Trail to Skate Trail loop, includes an ascent
- 8.5 km Race/Run/Jog - Ridge Trail to Jackpine Trail to Skate Trail, more demanding
The 2.0 km course is a gentle loop with little elevation change. The 5.5 km route includes a climb to the top of Ridge Trail and scenic views. The 8.5 km course adds the Jackpine Trail section and finishes on Skate Trail. Early Bird and General registration packages include a hot lunch with dessert, a beverage, and a swag bag with a signature Wapiti Bush Run toque; there are youth and adult categories and different price periods. Race packages are available on the morning of the event and a pre-race briefing is held before the starts. Post-race refreshments are provided at the finish and a luncheon at Gronlid Hall is available for registrants and ticket holders. Awards and medals are presented for top finishers in the 8.5 km and 5.5 km races. The event is sanctioned by Saskatchewan Athletics.
