The Wallowa Skyrace is a mountain ascent event in Joseph, OR, starting at Wallowa Lake and finishing at the summit of Mt Howard. The course rises 3700 feet over 4.2 miles and offers views of the Eagle Cap Wilderness. A tram ride back down from the summit is included with registration.
The Mountain Runners operates the event under a special use permit from the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest. This is the third edition of the Wallowa Skyrace. There is a limit on the number of participants.
Registration is open until Thursday, June 18, 2026. Entry fees are tiered by date: $90 through December 31, 2025; $100 through April 30, 2026; and $110 through the close of registration. The registration fee includes the tram ride down, a finisher medal, and post-race refreshments. Race shirts are available for an additional $30.
Packet pickup takes place at the race start at Wallowa Lake Tramway on race day. Every participant receives a finisher medal. Awards are given to the top three overall male and female finishers. A $200 cash prize is offered to any participant who breaks the course record. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
