VICTORY LANE BACKYARD 12 - Bussey, IA

VICTORY LANE BACKYARD 12 is a backyard ultra held in Bussey, Iowa. Participants run repeated 4.167 mile laps each hour; laps must be completed within 60 minutes and runners must return to the starting corral at the top of the hour or be disqualified. Three, two, and one minute warnings will be given before the hour.

The event has a 12 hour race cap. The winner is the last person to complete one more lap than any other competitor; all other participants receive results recorded as distance covered and laps completed. Runners may not leave the course during a lap except to use the restroom. Spectators, crew, and eliminated runners are not allowed on the course while laps are in progress. No pacers or personal aids such as trekking poles are permitted. Slower runners must allow faster runners to pass.

The race begins and ends at the barn. The trail is mostly grass with some gravel and includes roots, rocks, and uneven surfaces; there may be water on the course at this time of year. Snacks will be available at the starting corral and at an aid station. Upon completing a lap, participants may receive aid from their crew in the designated crew area east of the barn.

Early packet pick up is available Friday. Crews may set up at 6:00 AM Saturday and a mandatory pre-race meeting is scheduled for 7:15 AM Saturday. Crew areas have limited access to electricity, require cleanup at race end, and pets are discouraged.

Registration uses three pricing tiers with increases on May 1 and August 1. A t-shirt add-on is available for $25 to registrants prior to the August 1 price increase. No refunds or transfers.
