Ultra In The Black Country 2026

The event is the ninth edition of an ultra-distance running event held on 29 March 2026 with start and finish at Baggeridge Country Park near Dudley, West Midlands. The course is a 32 mile loop divided into four sections and may be completed solo, as a pair, or by a team of 4.

The route is largely traffic free (about 97%) and follows disused railway lines, canal towpaths and woodland paths. Notable features include a mandatory head torch section through the 2.7 km Netherton Tunnel and the 329 m Coseley Tunnel. The route will be fully waymarked and a GPX file will be provided for GPS devices. Shoe choice is left to the runner; recent editions indicate many participants used road shoes.

There are three check points that also serve as relay change-over points; each check point will offer water, an energy drink and assorted food. The base venue provides refreshments available to purchase at the Baggeridge Tea Room cafe. A £3 parking charge applies. Participants who finish receive a finisher’s medal and a bottle of Teme Valley Brewery beer. The minimum age for runners is 18 years on race day. Participants must complete the course within nine hours.

Entry fees listed by the organiser: SOLO £55 (early bird £30 for first 20 sign-ups), PAIRS £65 (£32.50 each), TEAM OF 4 £90 (£22.50 each). Total places are limited to 100. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
