Trail Running in the North York Moors

The Turnpike Trot 10k & Rabbit Run 5k are trail running events organized by the North York Moors National Park and Hardmoors 26.2 Series. The races take place within the scenery of the North York Moors, starting and finishing at the Danby Lodge National Park Centre.

Available distances include:

  • 10 km Trail Race (minimum age 10)
  • 5 km Trail Race (minimum age 7)

Both courses are fully marked and marshalled, requiring no independent navigational skills from participants. The 5 km distance is open to children aged 7 and over if accompanied by an adult. The 10 km distance is open to those aged 10 and over.

The event site at Danby Lodge National Park Centre provides various facilities for participants and spectators. These include an indoor climbing wall, an outdoor play area, a gift shop, and woodland and riverside trails. There are also on-site tea rooms and a picnic area.

Entry fees include a finishers medal, car parking at the venue, and refreshments. Prizes are awarded to the first, second, and third male and female finishers in both the over 18 and under 18 categories. Optional event T-shirts are available for purchase during the entry process.
