Turnagain Arm Trail Run

Turnagain Arm Trail Run is an annual trail race on the Turnagain Arm Trail in Southcentral Alaska. The event offers two distances:

  • 8 mile out and back between Potter TH and McHugh TH
  • 4 mile from McHugh lower parking lot to Potter TH

The course is single-track and double-wide soft surface, with mostly rocky and rooty trail and moderately hilly terrain that includes longer and steeper sections. The trail faces south and is often dry in good weather, with views of Turnagain Arm before trees leaf out.

Registration opens on April 7. The entry fee is $45 and all proceeds support the UAA Ski Team. Entry is nonrefundable because this is a fundraiser, but entries may be transferred to another participant before May 1. Field size is limited to 200 participants under the Chugach State Park permit.

Organizers provide timing services and bibs are available for pickup before race day at the Alaska Airlines Center Coaches suite and on race day at Potter TH. Participants are responsible for the $5 vehicle parking fee or an annual State Parks parking permit. There is no shuttle service; organizers advise using carpooling or a buddy system. Trail repairs are ongoing and an alternate route may be used if needed for safety and sustainability. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
