Turnagain Arm Trail Run

The Turnagain Arm Trail Run stages annual trail races near Anchorage, Alaska, using the Turnagain Arm Trail between Potter Trail Head, McHugh Trail Head, and Rainbow Trail Head. The event offers two distances:

  • 8 miles
  • 4 miles

The race normally runs point-to-point between Potter TH and Rainbow TH, with the direction alternating by year. For the current edition a washed out section between McHugh and Rainbow requires an out and back route from Potter Trail Head to McHugh Trail Head and back to Potter; the course passes through the McHugh parking lots for intermediate times.

Registration opens April 7 and closes April 22; the listed registration fee is $45. All participants are responsible for the $5 vehicle parking fee or for holding an annual State Parks parking permit. There is no shuttle service; participants are advised to arrange carpools or use the buddy system.

Bib pick up is available at the starting point on race day and also the afternoon before the race on May 6 between 4 and 6 pm at the Alaska Airlines Center coaches suite.

The event serves as a fundraiser for the UAA Ski Team. Participants are asked to carry out any trash they bring onto the trail. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
