The True Grit Trail Marathon takes place on Saturday 16 May 2026 at Bridgend Miniature Railway Centre in Aberkenfig, Tondu, Bridgend (CF32 0EH), organised by Mad Running Junkies. The race distance is 26.2 miles and the minimum age is 18. Entry is limited to 50 places. Entries open on 25 July 2025 and close on 15 May 2026. Entry fees are listed as £40 for entry only or £70 for entry plus a T-shirt. Registration is via the SiEntries system. An optional XCover refund option is offered.

Course and support

The route uses mixed terrain, including hills, quarry sections, a downhill forestry trail, slag heaps and a new section named "Mount Mayhem." The course passes the Bedford ironworks within the 40-acre Bedford Park area and follows nearby footpaths and the Celtic Trail track. The course will be marked and a GPX file will be provided. There are five major checkpoints with feed stations offering water and snacks. Event facilities include car parking, toilet facilities, hot and cold drinks and snacks, a medical team and on-course volunteers. A bespoke finisher medal is included.
