True Grit Trail Marathon is a trail marathon held on Saturday 16 May 2026 at Bridgend Miniature Railway Centre, Fountain Road, Aberkenfig, Tondu, Bridgend CF32 0EH. The event is organised by Mad Running Junkies and is a single-day race over a 26.2-mile route. The minimum entry age is 18. Entry is limited to 50 participants. Entries open 25 July 2025 and close 15 May 2026. Registration is handled through SiEntries; entrants must register or log in to that system. Entry fees listed are £40 for entry only and £70 for entry with a T-shirt.

Course and services

The course uses mixed terrain with hills, a quarry section known as the Hill of Doom, forestry trail sections, and muddy ground in parts. The route passes the Bedford ironworks within the 40-acre Bedford Park area, which is described as a scheduled ancient monument and is near a network of footpaths and the Celtic Trail track. A new section called Mount Mayhem and areas of slag heaps are included on the route. The course will be marked and a GPX file will be provided. There are five main checkpoints with feed stations offering water and jelly babies. Event facilities listed include car parking, toilet facilities, hot and cold drinks and snacks, a medical team, volunteers, and a bespoke finisher medal.
