Trailzilla at Sandy Bottom Nature Park

Joe Harney Memorial PTC Scholarship Trailzilla Series

The Trailzilla Series is a set of three trail races held at Sandy Bottom Nature Park, Lakeside Pavilion, Hampton VA, from 16 June 2026 through 18 July 2026. The series is organized and scored by the Peninsula Track Club and benefits the PTC Scholarship funds. Registration is open to the public and to Peninsula Track Club members.

Distances in the series include:

• 5K
• 4 Miles
• 5 Miles
• Series entry for all three races

Registration opens 1 April 2026. Published entry fees are: Trailzilla Fast 5K $10 with race day registration $15, Trailzilla Feel Good 4-Miler $10 with race day registration $15, Trailzilla Joe-Zilla 5-Miler $30 with race day registration $35, and Trailzilla Series-All 3 Events $45 with race day series registration $50. Race singlets are not available for the 5K and the 4-Miler. Participants in the Joe-Zilla 5-Miler and the full 3-race series will receive a race singlet if registered by 18 June 2025; extra singlets on race day are first-come, first-serve.

Walkers must notify the Peninsula Track Club at check-in and must walk the entire course. Walkers who jog or run any part of a race will be moved to the running category.

Awards are planned for individual races and for the three-race series. Individual race awards include top three overall male and female, top male and female age group winners in five-year age groups and top three male and female Walkers. Series awards require completion of all three races and follow the same overall and age group structure. Series tie-breakers use the Joe-Zilla 5-Miler ranking. Individual race awards use ages on each race day; series awards use ages on 16 June 2026. Race day registration is available for each race depending on availability.
