Overview
The Trail to Recovery event is organized by the Crawford County Drug & Alcohol Executive Commission Inc. (CCDAEC). The event raises funds for an annual Recovery Celebration held in Meadville, Pennsylvania, and aims to increase awareness around drug overdose and support recovery activities.
Distances
The event features two distances:
- 5k Run
- 1 Mile Walk
Logistics
Registration opens at 8:00 AM on the event day at the parking lot by the start/finish line. The 5k starts at 9:00 AM, and the 1 Mile Walk starts approximately 15 minutes later.
Standard registration costs $25 and increases by $5 after July 23, 2026. Race-day registration is available for $30, payable only in cash. Children aged 10 and under can participate for free with a parent or guardian unless they wish to be eligible for awards or a T-shirt.
The course is an out-and-back route on the scenic Ernst Bike Trail, starting at the Bean's Trailhead on Smock Highway in Meadville.
Amenities and Awards
Water will be available at the start/finish line and at the 5k turnaround point. T-shirts are available for participants who register by July 22, 2026.
Awards for the 5k are given to the top overall male and female finishers, as well as the top three finishers in each ten-year age group, from Under 19 to Over 70. Awards are announced around 10:00 AM and are locally made by The 100 Acre Wood Shop in Meadville. Free Naloxone/Narcan kits will also be available at the event.
Parking is first-come, first-served at the trailhead lot, with overflow parking available at a nearby plaza mall. The trail is pet-friendly, provided pets are leashed and waste is cleaned up. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
