The Trail Running Festival takes place on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Doris Leeper Spruce Creek Preserve in New Smyrna Beach, Florida (2317 Creek Shore Trail). This is the third annual running festival. The event offers three distances:
- Torpid Tortoise 12K (7.5 miles)
- Hungry Horsefly Half (24K / 15 miles)
- Badass Boar Ultra 48K (30 miles)
The course is a single 12K (7.5 mile) loop. Half marathon and 48K participants complete multiple loops. Walkers are allowed in the 12K and half.
Course, aid and services
Trails run through portions of the 2,500-acre preserve, including old growth forests, oak hammocks, river edges, and salt marshes of Spruce Creek. There are two aid stations on course stocked with snacks, water, and electrolyte drink. Runners must bring their own cup, reusable bottle, or hydration system. Aid Station #1 is at the start/finish area; Aid Station #2 is at the Martin Dairy Road access, about 2.6 miles into the loop. After Aid Station #2, runners are self-sufficient for about 5 miles until returning to the start/finish.
Packet pickup is at the park pavilion near the start/finish. Parking is available at the start/finish area. Drop bags may be left at the start/finish and are accessible at the completion of each loop. Participants receive a custom long sleeve race shirt and a distance-specific finisher medal.
