Toxic Trail 37 : Canal Point to Stuart Beach

Toxic Trail 37 is a point to point road race of approximately 37 miles in South Florida, running from Port Mayaca to Stuart Beach. The event includes solo and relay options:

  • 37 Miler
  • 2 Person Relay
  • 4 Person Relay
  • 6 Person Relay

The race is organized to raise awareness of water discharge from Lake Okeechobee through the C-44 canal into the St. Lucie River and the affected areas including Palm City and Stuart. Organizers encourage visible support along the route with signs and banners to highlight local environmental concerns.

Course and logistics are described as follows. The first 20 miles are rural, run against traffic, and tend to be quieter. Miles 23 to 33 pass through more urban and busy areas of Stuart with traffic crossings. The finish is on the beach with a double bridge approach and Atlantic Ocean views; participants are traditionally invited to gather for a group photo in the ocean. Aid stations will be placed roughly every 5 to 7 miles and exact locations will be communicated to entrants before the race.

Solo runners are strongly encouraged to have a crew; uncrewed solo runners are screened for qualifications and a shuttle option to the start is available. Relay teams may include up to six runners with changes approximately every two miles or more. A police presence is planned on highways and crew vehicles must move fully off the road when stopped.
