Toxic Trail 37
Toxic Trail 37 is a point to point road race of approximately 37 miles from Port Mayaca to Stuart Beach in Canal Point, Florida. The event includes relay categories and a solo option.
- 37 Miler
- 4 Person Relay
- 6 Person Relay
- 2 Person Relay
The event is presented to raise awareness of the flow of discharge from Lake Okeechobee into the St. Lucie River via the C-44 canal and its effects on Palm City, Stuart, and nearby areas. Organizers encourage runners, walkers, cyclists, and on-route support to be present along the roadway with signs and banners.
Course notes describe the first 20 miles as cool, quiet, and running against traffic in rural areas. Miles 23 to 33 pass through busier sections of Stuart with multiple highway crossings; participants will follow signs and cross roads according to traffic laws. The final 3 to 4 miles include a double bridge approach and a beach finish with Atlantic Ocean views. A group photo in the ocean is a customary finish tradition.
Aid stations are planned at roughly every 5 to 7 miles. Solo runners are strongly encouraged to use a crew; uncrewed solo runners will be asked about qualifications and may use an available shuttle option to the start. Relay changeovers occur every two miles or more. Crew vehicles must move fully off the road and display hazards while parked. A police presence is expected on the highway and the event serves as a fundraiser. Registration closes Fri, Jun 26 at 11:59 PM ET. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
