Toxic Trail 37

This is a road race held in late June in South Florida. The route is a point-to-point course running from Port Mayaca to Stuart Beach, approximately 37 miles long. The event name refers to the "trail" of water discharge from Lake Okeechobee to the ocean, and the race aims to bring awareness to this environmental issue.

Race Formats

Participants can register for several formats:

  • 37 Miler for solo runners.
  • 4 Person Relay.
  • 6 Person Relay.
  • 2 Person Relay.

The first part of the course is described as quiet. The middle section passes through busier areas. The final miles finish with a double bridge crossing and views of the Atlantic Ocean, with the finish line on the beach.

Important Notes

The race is known to be hot, with potential for a heat index over 100 degrees. Solo runners are highly encouraged to use a support crew. Aid stations are planned approximately every 5 to 7 miles. A shuttle to the start is available for solo runners without a crew, though they are asked about qualifications due to the challenging conditions. Relay teams can have up to 6 runners, with exchanges every 2 miles or more. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
