Tissington Trail Marathon and Half Marathon

The Tissington Trail Marathon and Half Marathon take place on a historic route through the Derbyshire countryside. The course follows the Tissington Trail, which is the site of a former railway line running between Ashbourne and Buxton. This traffic-free trail provides a multi-terrain and undulating surface for participants.

The marathon is designed as an out-and-back course. The first half of the route travels uphill toward Parsley Hay, while the return leg toward Ashbourne Leisure Centre features a slight downhill gradient. The event has a six-hour time limit for completion.

Available distances include:

  • Marathon: Open to entrants aged 18 and over.
  • Half Marathon: Open to entrants aged 17 and over.

Race Headquarters is located at Ashbourne Leisure Centre. Parking is available within Ashbourne Town Centre and at a small car park at the Leisure Centre, where charges apply. The location is also accessible via bus services from Derby. Registered participants receive detailed event information before the race day, and the organizers provide GPX files for the route. All finishers receive a bespoke medal and access to free digital photographs. Trophies and prizes are awarded to the leading runners.
