The 5 km course is a single-direction loop with 302 feet of vertical gain. The 20 km distance uses two 10 km loops; the 24 hour and 48 hour events use multiple 10 km loops. Aid stations are located at approximately every 3 miles. All start and finish activity is at the Smith Ranch Cow Camp staging area.

On-site camping is available on a first-come basis. Camping is primitive and dry with no hookups or amenities. Camping costs $10.00 per vehicle, per night, payable on arrival, and is not included in the race entry fee. There are nightly group bonfires and live music on Friday and Saturday nights.
