Three Days Of Syllamo

Event overview

Three Days of Syllamo is a three-day ultrarunning stage race held at Blanchard Springs Recreation Area near Fifty-Six, Arkansas. The event is held almost entirely on singletrack trail and offers options to run one, two, or all three days. The cumulative distance for the full stage is about 94 miles.

Stage entries are limited to 125 and total entries to 250. Entry fees vary by date and by distance; a single stage entry fee and individual race fees are listed for early and late registration. The organizer does not provide monetary refunds but offers deferral credit on a sliding scale before the event.

Course, aid, and logistics

Courses change each year and are routed on Sylamore, Syllamo, and Ozark Highlands trails. Terrain is rugged singletrack with rocks, climbs, creek crossings, boulders, and varied trail surfaces. Average elevation gain is roughly 130 to 175 feet per mile, with some sections exceeding 200 feet per mile. High and low points are about 1,400 ft and 300 ft above sea level.

Aid stations are typically 4 to 9 miles apart, provide hydration, sports nutrition, solid foods, and basic first aid, and do not supply cups. Runners should carry their own water container. Pacers are allowed on the 50-mile day with no more than one pacer at a time. Drop bag and crew access vary by distance; the 50-mile has three drop locations. Camping is available on site in primitive group sites and individual sites per US Forest Service rules; sites have water and heated restrooms.

Cutoffs and awards

Cutoffs are enforced at aid stations with published time limits per day. Finishers of each stage receive a custom award; runners who finish all three days receive a commemorative "Rock."
