Stage entries are limited to 125; total entries are limited to 250. Fee options include a stage entry price or individual race fees, with different pricing before and after January 1. There is a deferral policy with percentage credits based on how far in advance a cancellation is made. Finishers of all three days receive a special "Rock" award; all stage finishers receive a custom finisher award.
Course and logistics
Courses are held almost entirely on singletrack and change each year. Terrain is described as rugged, rocky, steep, and densely forested with multiple creek crossings. Expected average elevation gain is about 150 to 170 feet per mile, with some sections over 200 feet per mile; high and low points are about 1,400 ft and 300 ft above sea level. Aid stations are typically spaced about 4 to 9 miles apart, provide standard foods and hydration (electrolyte mix, sodas, water, gels, solid foods), do not provide cups, and will have basic first aid. Pacers are allowed on the 50 mile stage (one pacer at a time). On-site primitive group camping is provided, individual sites are first-come, and sites have water and heated restrooms; large RVs may be difficult to navigate local roads. Cutoffs are enforced at aid stations with time limits for each day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
