Spirit Of Syllamo

Event

Spirit of Syllamo is an ultra endurance trail event on December 13, 2025, held near Norfork, Arkansas at Misty Mornings (309 Riverview Trail). The 2025 edition uses a new venue and substantially modified routes after an EF4 tornado and subsequent flooding damaged the original trail system. Distances offered are:

• 100 miles
• 35 miles
• 10k

Packet pickup is available the day before at Norfork Adventure Supply. Bibs are issued at the start line on race morning. Drop bags are allowed for the 35m and 100m distances and must be labeled with bib number, runner name, and aid location.

Course, aid and logistics

Trails are described as rugged, rocky, steep, and densely forested with highly variable terrain and multiple creek crossings. The 10k does not include water crossings; the 35m may include crossings; the 100m includes Cole Fork (around miles 25 and 75) and Spring Creek (around miles 40 and 60). Average recorded elevation gain is about 170 feet per mile, with the course often feeling steeper.

Aid stations will be spaced several miles apart and can range from about 5 to 13+ miles; organizers plan to provide more aid than in typical years. Standard aid offerings include electrolyte mix, ginger ale, Coca-Cola, water, gels/chews, solid foods, and cooked warm items. Cutoff limits are 4 hours for the 10k, 11 hours for the 35m, and 34 hours for the 100m. Crews are advised that many service roads are steep and narrow; a four-wheel-drive vehicle is recommended for some locations. Pacers are permitted for the 100m at specified locations.
