Spirit Of Syllamo

Event

The Spirit of Syllamo is an ultra endurance trail event set for December 13, 2025, at Misty Mornings in Norfork, Arkansas. The event offers three distance options:

• ~100 miles
• ~35 miles
• ~10k

Routes and the venue were revised for 2025 after an EF4 tornado and subsequent flooding damaged much of the original trail system.

Course and logistics

The courses use singletrack in the Sylamore Ranger District and Ozark Highlands area. Trails are described as rugged, rocky, steep, and densely forested with highly variable terrain; in a single mile runners may cross a creek, climb, traverse boulders, and encounter flowy sections. Elevation devices typically record about 170 feet of gain per mile, though the course may feel like 200+ feet per mile because of short steep pitches.

Water crossings vary by distance and weather; some creeks may be dry while others can be deep after rain. Aid stations are spaced irregularly, roughly 5 to 13+ miles apart, and provide electrolyte mix, soft drinks, water, gels/chews, solid foods, and cooked items. NSAIDs and other pain relievers are not provided. Basic first aid is available at aid stations.

Logistics notes include limited crew access for some remote locations, recommendation of a 4x4 vehicle for certain roads, small labeled drop bags for 35m and 100m, and restricted pacer allowances for the 100 mile race per the runners packet.
