The Wauhatchie Trail Race

The Wauhatchie Trail Race takes place on February 6, 2027 in Chattanooga, Tennessee and is organized by the Chattanooga Track Club. The course is 6.7 miles long and runs on the lower slopes of Lookout Mountain. It follows hilly gravel and dirt roads and rough double-track trails. The elevation change from the start/finish point to the highest point is 410 feet. Runners will encounter steep ascents and descents and trail surfaces covered with leaves, rocks, and fallen tree limbs.

The event is the 41st running of the Wauhatchie Trail Race and is conducted as an age and sex handicapped race. Males aged 20-24 and 25-29 are designated the fastest group and start at time zero; other age and sex groups receive staggered head starts. Awards include top three male and female finishers and top three masters by gender. The venue is at Reflection Riding Arboretum & Nature Center, listed at 400 Garden Rd, which offers extensive trails and natural areas on its property. A low key social trail run at Lula Lake Land Trust offering 5K and 15K courses. The 5K is relatively easy while the 15K includes a rope section and a steep descent to Lula Falls. Proceeds benefit Lula Lake Land Trust.
