Box Turtle Express Trail Races

The Box Turtle Express Trail Races take place on Bauxite Ridge at the McKee Employee Recreation Center in Collegedale, TN on Monday, September 7, 2026. The event features single track trails with marked turns and volunteers at major intersections.

Distances include:

• 15K (9.3 Miles), total elevation gain +750'
• 8K (5 Miles), total elevation gain +450'
• 1K Kids Run (0.6 Miles), total elevation gain +100'

The 15K is a loop of single track favored by locals. Aid stations are stocked with electrolyte hydration, water and trail snacks. The 15K has two aid stations located around mile 2.5 and mile 7; the 8K has one aid station near mile 2.5. Awards include cash prizes for the 15K overall podium and custom awards for the 8K. The kids run includes a custom race t-shirt and finisher medal.

Course logistics note well marked ground signs and course volunteers. Parking is available at the MERC main lot and overflow lots, with an additional overflow location near Apison Pike and MERC Lane. The venue offers multiple spectator viewing points a short hike from the start and a finish area on the MERC lower track for the final quarter mile.

Participants should use appropriate trail footwear, bring personal hydration because the event is cupless with no disposable cups at aid stations, and avoid personal audio devices. Pets are not allowed on course. There are no refunds; organizers will assist with event swag if a participant cannot run. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
