The St Albans Sixer Backyard Ultra 2026

The event is a Backyard Ultra held at the Lower Red Lion in St Albans. Runners complete a repeated loop of 4.167 mile (6.706 km) every hour; the event continues until only one runner completes a loop and is declared the winner. Entries are individual only; teams and relays are not permitted. The field is limited to 90 participants.

Entry fee is £55 and includes six drink tokens and a commemorative glass, with at least £5 from each entry donated to Youth Talk, a local charity that provides confidential counselling for 13 to 25 year olds in the St Albans area. Food and drink will be available throughout day and night. The pub will remain open for the duration of the event; during non pub hours access inside is limited to runners and their supporters.

A course map will be published at least two weeks before the event. Competitors are advised to bring suitable kit for extended running in variable conditions, for example comfortable trail shoes, layered clothing including a waterproof, a headlamp for night running, hydration, basic first aid items and spare socks.

Entrants must be over 18 and declare they are medically fit to compete. The organisers reserve the right to alter arrangements if required. The event does not offer refunds, transfers or deferrals except where official evidence permits a transfer or credit note; event cancellation may result in a credit note for entry value minus booking fees.
