The Ribbon 200
The Ribbon 200
The Ribbon 200 is a wilderness running event held along the Bruce Trail, traversing the Blue Mountains, Dufferin Hi-Land, and Caledon Hills sections in Ontario. The course features technical singletrack, double track, gravel roads, and significant elevation changes. Navigation relies exclusively on the official Bruce Trail white blazes.
Participants can select from three primary distances:
- 200 Miler: An out-and-back route starting in the Blue Mountains, running through Dufferin Hi-Land to Glen Haffy and back, featuring approximately 7,500 m of elevation gain.
- 100 Miler: A point-to-point race beginning at Glen Haffy in the Caledon Hills and finishing in the Blue Mountains, with approximately 3,700 m of elevation gain.
- 72.5 km (E2E): A point-to-point run covering the Blue Mountains section of the Bruce Trail, with approximately 1,500 m of elevation gain.
The event provides 11 to 13 fully stocked aid stations located every 20-30 km, offering hot food. There are also 4 to 5 designated sleep stations for long-distance runners. Required gear includes a headlamp, wind or rain jacket, 2L hydration capacity, whistle, and a mobile phone with a tracking application.
Pacers are permitted for the 100-mile and 200-mile distances starting from specific locations. Athletes participating in the 100-mile and 72.5 km events have access to bus transportation from Blue Mountain to their respective starting points. Finishers receive commemorative awards, including buckles for the miler distances and medals for the E2E section. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
