The Plough and Harroween 5 mile night trail run

The event is a 5 mile night trail run on 31 October 2027. A TRA permit application is in progress. Race numbers are collected inside the Plough & Harrow and the event uses a mass start and timed results.

This is a self navigated event that follows a Strava GPX route on a phone or watch and runs in the reverse direction of the Friston Forest 5 route. A written narrative will be available to assist with downloads and a tail runner will sweep the course. The majority of the route is in countryside including forest, farm tracks and downland with many hills.

Participants are expected to carry a head torch, a mobile phone with ICE details and ideally wear trail running shoes under Halloween themed fancy dress. The best fancy dressed runner as chosen by the organisers will receive a post run dessert. Participants who do not wear any Halloween fancy dress will incur a five minute time penalty. Non affiliated England Athletics or Trail Runners Association runners pay an additional £2 fee.

What is provided includes a race number, timed run results, a tail runner for course support, a Halloween themed finishers medal and a post run drink option behind the bar. The venue offers a menu for pre or post event food and parking is limited. The minimum age is 18 years since the start and finish use a licensed premises. Total places are limited to 40.
