Trail Running in the Suffolk AONB

The Maverick Suffolk Gravel event takes place at Wantisden Hall, situated within the Suffolk Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). This region is noted for its significant wildlife areas, including three National Nature Reserves and several Sites of Special Scientific Interest. The course leads participants through a landscape of woodland trails and forest paths that are primarily flat, with some sections containing sandy terrain.

Participants can select from three different route options:

  • 23 km (Half Marathon) with an elevation gain of +118 m
  • 16 km (Middle) with an elevation gain of +69 m
  • 9 km (Short) with an elevation gain of +58 m

The event is designed to be plastic free, requiring participants to carry their own reusable cup or bottle for hydration. Outposts offering snacks, gels, and electrolytes are available on the Middle and Half Marathon routes, while the Short route has no outpost. The start and finish area includes facilities such as free parking, a bag drop area, and toilets.

This is a dog friendly event, though specific registration for dogs is required. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. The venue is located approximately 14 minutes by car from Melton train station and about two hours from London. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
