Event

The Maverick Jurassic Coast events take place on Saturday 17 October 2026 at Burnbake Forest Lodges and Campsite, Corfe Castle, Wareham, Dorset (BH20 5JH). The events are organised by Maverick Race and use trails around the Isle of Purbeck and part of the Jurassic Coast. The venue offers free parking and a campsite at the start/finish area. Routes and race services

Trail event routes:

  • 24 km Half Marathon, elevation +395 m (one outpost, approx 9 km)
  • 12 km Middle, elevation +105 m (no outpost)
  • 6 km Short, elevation +35 m (no outpost)

X-Trail event routes:

  • 102 km 100k Ultra, elevation +2547 m (multiple outposts along route)
  • 54 km 50k Ultra, elevation +1204 m (four outposts on route)

Outposts provide snacks, gels and electrolyte drink. There are no pre-filled water cups; participants should use a reusable cup or bottle. The events are fully marked and fully timed, with online results, event photography and finisher medals. The 100k Ultra includes drop bag provision; drop bags are taken to a mid-route outpost and returned to the finish. Some routes include GPS tracking.

Safety and mandatory items

The terrain is described as technical with long steep climbs and descents. Organisers recommend all runners carry at least 1 litre of water and a mobile phone. Mandatory kit for the ultras includes items such as a waterproof jacket, minimum 1 litre water, 800 calories, a foil blanket, a mobile phone and a GPX of the route.
