The Maverick Jurassic Coast Trail 2026

The event takes place on Saturday 17 October 2026 at Burnbake Forest Lodges and Campsite near Corfe Castle, Wareham, Dorset BH20 5JH. The course uses paths around the Isle of Purbeck and parts of the Jurassic Coast, starting close to the village of Corfe Castle and passing marshland and coastal ridge lines.

Available routes

  • Half Marathon: 24 km, +395 m elevation
  • Middle: 12 km, +105 m elevation
  • Short: 6 km, +35 m elevation

The terrain is described as technical with long steep climbs and descents. The Half Marathon route has one outpost at approximately 9 km. There are no outposts on the Short or Middle routes. Outpost supplies include sweet and savoury snacks, gels and electrolyte drink. Pre filled cups are not provided; participants are asked to use a reusable cup or bottle at outposts and water barrels.

Facilities and practical information include free parking, a fully marked course, race timing and online results, event photography, food and drink provision and a metal finishers medal. The event is dog friendly when a dog is added to the entry. Organisers recommend that all runners carry at least 1 litre of water, a raincoat, a foil blanket and a mobile phone. Trail runs nearby

An ultra trail event on 24 May 2026 from south of Salisbury to Kimmeridge Bay, offering 100K, 50K and 30K courses with varied terrain, marshals, aid stations, mobile medics and finisher medals.

An obstacle 5k at Baiter Park in Poole on 30 May 2026, the Pretty Muddy event combines climbing, crawling and sliding while raising funds for Cancer Research UK. Waves run every 15 minutes and participants must be 13 or older.

Midweek chip timed trail races at the Blue Pool nature reserve in Dorset with 7 mile and 3 mile routes through woodland and ridge views. Race entry includes access for one adult and up to two children.

A 140 km coastal endurance run along the Jurassic Coast from near Charmouth to Shell Bay in Studland. Around 100 participants follow a route including a full circumnavigation of Portland with checkpoint support roughly every 10 km.
