The Maverick Jurassic Coast X-Trail 2026
The event is a series of trail races on the Isle of Purbeck and along part of the Jurassic Coast, based at Burnbake Forest Lodges and Campsite near Corfe Castle, Wareham, Dorset. The routes follow sections of the South Dorset Ridgeway, the South West Coast Path and the Purbeck Way, and pass landmarks such as Hardy Monument, Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove, Old Harry's Rocks, Winspit Quarry, St. Aldhelm's Head and Knowle Hill.
Five trail route options are offered, including ultra distances with substantial elevation gain. Key route details include:
- 100 km (elevation +2458 m)
- 52 km (elevation +1122 m)
Outposts provide food and drink on the longer routes, and the event aims to operate outpost stations without single-use cups so runners should bring a reusable cup or bottle. Course features include full marking, on-course timing, online results and event photography. Support services include precision fuel and hydration outposts, bag drop at the finish area and ultra route GPS tracking. Finishers receive a metal medal and there is non-alcoholic beer available.
Race packs are distributed from the registration area at the Burnbake campsite on the day and the day before. Mandatory kit lists are specified for the ultra routes; items commonly required include a waterproof jacket, mobile phone, minimum 1 litre of water, 800 calories of food, a foil blanket and a GPX file of the route.
