The Maverick Jurassic Coast X-Trail 2026

The Maverick Jurassic Coast X-Trail takes place on 17 October 2026 around the Isle of Purbeck, based at Burnbake Forest Lodges and Campsite near Corfe Castle, Wareham, Dorset. The event is organised by Maverick Race and runs along sections of the Jurassic Coast.

Routes and main stats

  • 102 km Ultra: 102 km, +2547 m
  • 54 km Ultra: 54 km, +1204 m

The 102 km route starts at Hardy Monument and follows the South Dorset Ridgeway to the South West Coast Path, passing Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove before joining the 54 km route. Both routes include coastal ridge-line running via the Purbeck Way, pass Old Harry's Rocks and run past Winspit Quarry and St Aldhelm's Head, with descents including Knowle Hill and final approach to Burnbake Campsite.

Logistics and on-course support are provided via outposts and timed cut-offs; the 102 km route has multiple outposts along its length and the 54 km route has four outposts. Race packs, GPS trackers and kit checks are handled at the Burnbake registration area before the event. Drop bags are provided for the 102 km route and are routed to an outpost mid-race then returned to the finish area.

Mandatory and recommended kit for each ultra includes waterproof clothing, a mobile phone, specified calorie and water minimums, basic first aid items, a foil blanket, a hat or buff and a GPX track. Participants are asked to bring a reusable cup or bottle for water resupply to support a plastic free approach at outposts. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
