The Maverick Jurassic Coast X-Trail 2026 is a trail running event on Saturday, 17 October 2026. The event is based at Burnbake Forest Lodges and Campsite in Corfe Castle, Dorset. It features two ultra-distance trail routes that explore the Isle of Purbeck and sections of the Jurassic Coast.
Routes
Participants can choose from two ultra-distance routes:
- 102 km (100k Ultra): This route starts at Hardy Monument, follows the South Dorset Ridgeway to Osmington, and then joins the South West Coast Path. It passes Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove before connecting with the 54 km route from Corfe. The total elevation gain is 2547 meters.
- 54 km (50k Ultra): This route starts near the village of Corfe Castle, runs across marshland towards the coast, and passes Old Harry's Rocks. It follows the Purbeck Way, passes Winspit Quarry and St. Aldhelm's Head, and uses the Hardy Way before finishing. The total elevation gain is 1204 meters.
Event Details
The event operates a plastic-free policy and requires participants to bring a reusable cup or bottle for refilling at outposts (aid stations). These outposts provide water, electrolyte drinks, and snacks. The event includes free parking, a fully marked course, event timing, online results, event photography, and a finisher's medal. GPS tracking is provided for the 100k route. Each distance has a specific mandatory kit list, which includes items such as a waterproof jacket, a mobile phone, a minimum amount of water and calories, and a foil blanket.
