The Mackyard Ultra
The Mackyard Ultra stages repeated 4.2 mile (6.7 km) laps run on the hour, every hour, until one competitor remains. Each lap, called a yard, must be completed within 60 minutes; competitors cannot start early or finish late. A warning whistle sounds three, two and one minute before each lap begins.
The event takes place at Redbridge Cycling Centre in Romford, Essex, with the facility address listed as Forest Road, Ilford IG6 3HP. The route uses a 2 km tarmac cycling track, so each yard requires multiple loops. The course is undulating and includes several corners.
Organizers have exclusive use of the venue for the weekend. On-site facilities include free secure parking, showers, changing rooms, and hot and cold water. Competitors may set up camp at Event HQ and are welcome to stay on site; they should bring their own sleeping equipment.
This is a largely self-sufficient event on course. Small support crews are permitted and can access drinking water at the facility. Competitors are expected to bring sufficient food, nutrition, and any means to consume it, such as plates or cutlery.
If more than one competitor reaches the 34th yard after over 140 miles, the 35th yard becomes a straight sprint; the first across the finish line is declared the winner and all others are recorded as Did Not Finish. Tickets include entry for the runner and a support crew, parking, showers, partner treats, event photography, and a finishing memento. There are no refunds. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
