The Longest Night Trail Run
The Longest Night is an overnight running event held at the Lakewood Nature Preserve in Greenville, South Carolina. The course consists of a 1.5-mile loop on wide grassy paths with rolling hills. Participants navigate the trails under the moonlight, starting at sunset and concluding at dawn the following morning.
The event follows a specific time schedule where participants must complete each loop in under 25 minutes to remain in the challenge. The central hub for the event is an old barn, which houses the start and finish line, the primary aid station, and the packet pickup area.
Available distances include:
- 50 Miles (34 laps)
- 50K (21 laps)
- Marathon (18 laps)
- Half Marathon (9 laps)
- 10K (4 laps)
The aid station provides water, soda, hydration drinks, and food items such as hot vegetable soup, pickles, chips, and candy. This is a cup-less event, and participants are required to bring their own hydration vessels.
The venue offers space for personal base camps. Runners are permitted to set up tents, tables, and portable fire pits, provided the fire pits are off the ground. Limited parking is available near the barn, with additional parking provided in an adjacent field lot and along one side of the access road. Facilities include four restrooms on-site, though the preserve does not provide public power or water utilities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
