The Longest Night - event overview

The Longest Night Trail & Ultra Run takes place December 20-21, 2025 at Lakewood Nature Preserve in Greenville, SC. Proceeds and donations support the Upstate Running Club Youth Team. The event uses repeated laps of a single loop and offers overnight running that spans sunset to sunrise. The central barn at the preserve serves as the hub for the start/finish area, the runners’ aid station, and personal setup space. Free admission to Lakewood Nature Preserve is included with the event.

Logistics and services

Aid station offerings include hot soup and broth; pickles, chips, candy, and fig newtons; and beverages such as water, Coke, and ginger ale. The event is cup-less, so participants must bring their own hydration vessel. Race shirts are sold separately; finisher medals and awards are not shipped. Transfers and distance changes are allowed through the event registration system. Volunteer shifts of three hours earn a free entry to any Upstate Race Series-owned event.
