The Longest Night (50mi - 50k - 26.2 - 13.1 - 10k)
The Longest Night is a backyard elimination-style lap race at Lakewood Nature Preserve in Greenville, South Carolina, held over the night of December 19–20, 2026. Runners complete repeated loops of a 1.5 mile course that departs from a central barn and follows wide, grassy trails.
The event uses a fixed lap schedule: laps are 25 minutes apart and each lap must be completed in under 25 minutes. Distances are determined by lap count:
- 50 miles (34 laps)
- 50K (21 laps)
- Marathon (18 laps)
- Half marathon (9 laps)
- 10K (4 laps)
The barn functions as the race hub: packet pickup, the single central aid station, and the start/finish area. The aid station supplies hot soup and broth, pickles, chips, candy, Fig Newtons, water, Coke, and ginger ale; hydration is provided in sponsor jugs. This is a cup-less event and runners use their own hydration vessels.
Practical details include on-site parking (150 barn spaces then a field lot and roadside overflow), four restrooms at the start/finish, and space for personal aid setups inside or outside the barn. Dogs on leash and headphones are allowed; pacers are not permitted. All finishers receive a branded medal; shirts are ordered and shipped separately. The race supports Pickens County Meals on Wheels and participates in the Upstate Giving Series. Live results post as runners finish and event photos are typically available within a few days.
