Event Overview
The Longest Night is a backyard elimination style race held at the Lakewood Nature Preserve in Greenville, South Carolina. The event takes place on a 1.5-mile loop consisting of wide, grassy trails that extend from a central barn. Participants run from dusk until dawn, adhering to a strict lap schedule.
Distances and Format
The event features multiple distance options based on the number of completed laps. Every lap starts precisely 25 minutes apart. Runners must finish each loop within this time limit and wait for the next scheduled start. The available distances include:
- 50 Miles: 34 laps
- 50K: 21 laps
- Marathon: 18 laps
- Half Marathon: 9 laps
- 10K: 4 laps
Logistics and Amenities
The central barn serves as the primary hub for the event, housing packet pickup, the start and finish lines, and a common area for runners to regroup between laps. A single aid station is located at the barn, providing water, hydration drinks, soda, and various snacks such as chips, candy, and pickles. Hot veggie soup and broth are served throughout the night. This is a cup-less event, so participants are required to bring their own hydration vessels.
Additional Information
Parking is available at the barn and an adjacent field. The facility features on-site restrooms and space for personal gear. Runners may bring portable firepits (kept off the ground), tables, tents, or coolers for their personal setup. Dogs are permitted on the course provided they are on a leash. All finishers receive a custom medal and a race tattoo. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
