Jed Smith Ultra Classic

The Jed Smith Ultra Classic takes place on February 6, 2027 and is presented as the 49th edition of the event. It is held on USATF certified courses that use a nearly identical layout to the record setting course used for the 2011 World Masters Championship Marathon.

The event uses a 4.85 mile loop along the American River Parkway. The loop crosses the Guy West Bridge at the Sacramento State University campus and the Watt Bridge at Watt Avenue. The route follows a paved bike path with some wide dirt trail sections. Local parkway rules require runners and pedestrians to use the left side and bicycles the right side. Course marshals will be placed at crucial turns.

There are two aid stations: a main station at the start and finish area and a second station about three miles away near the Howe Avenue Bridge. Aid stations will offer water, soda, GU sports drink, single serve candy, gel, salty snacks and other race food. Limited cups will be available and runners are encouraged to bring their own.

Race amenities include a long sleeved shirt for all runners and a hand crafted wooden medal for finishers. The race is capped at 250 entrants, is held rain or shine, and does not offer refunds. Packet pick up and race day registration occur at the start and finish area on race day only; no pre race day pick up is available.
