The Hills Are Alive 5K and 10K

The Hills Are Alive is an annual running and walking event held in Rolling Hills Estates, California. Participants can choose between two primary distances that traverse the local landscape. The event features a scenic trail route that utilizes the city's bridle trails.

The course for both distances starts and ends at the historic Ernie Howlett Park. Because the route follows these specific equestrian trails, certain restrictions are in place for the safety of all participants; specifically, pets and strollers are not permitted on the racecourse.

Available distances include:

  • 5 km
  • 10 km

Recognition is provided for top finishers in both the 5 km and 10 km categories. Plaques are awarded to the first-place overall male and female winners. Additionally, medals are presented to the first-place male and female winners within specific age divisions.

Registration is open to the public with tiered pricing based on the date of entry, including an early registration discount and an option for day-of-race registration. Participants who register in advance can collect their event packets at City Hall on the day prior to the race, while late registrants can pick them up at the park on the morning of the event.
