The Hills Are Alive 5K/10K Run/Walk

The Hills Are Alive is an annual run and walk held in Rolling Hills Estates on May 30, 2026. The event uses a scenic trail route through the city bridle trails and begins and ends at Ernie Howlett Park. The event offers in-person participation on marked 5K and 10K courses.

Distances:

  • 5 km run/walk
  • 10 km run

Prizes are awarded for overall and age division placements. Overall winners in the in-person 5K and 10K receive plaques for first place in the women and men categories. Age division first place winners in each race receive medals for women and men.

Registration follows a tiered fee schedule. The standard registration fee is $40; early registration saves $10 on that fee. The early registration period ends March 31. Standard registration runs from April 1 through May 29. Day of race registration is available at a higher fee.

Packet pick up is provided for in-person participants who register before May 29 and takes place at City Hall, 4045 Palos Verdes Drive North, in the Council Chambers on May 29. Participants who register on May 29 or on race day pick up packets at Ernie Howlett Park. Strollers and dogs are not allowed on the racecourse.
