The Herring Run 2026, Mascarene New Brunswick

The Herring Run takes place on July 19, 2026 at 352 Mascarene Rd, Mascarene, NB, Canada. The event uses a single loop of about 11 km that can be run once or twice depending on the chosen distance.

The 2026 course was changed from previous years. The loop measures approximately 11.14 km and features 285 m of positive elevation gain. The route is more technical than before, with about 25 percent more singletrack, two bumpy hills, a rocky shore section along the bay and a low tide cove crossing. The paved road section is roughly 475 m and there are two road crossings.

Logistics and rules: the field is capped at 115 runners with a 20-person waiting list. There are no transfers and no day of registrations. Casual walkers are not accepted. For the 22 km entry there is a one and a half hour cutoff for the first lap to ensure the cove can be crossed at low tide. The 22 km uses one aid station at the lap mark and runners may leave a drop bag there; the 11 km has no aid stations. Participants are encouraged to carry their own water.

Event extras include a mostly local organic luncheon after the race, free camping in the fields, a kids race of about 0.5 mile on fields and woods, and awards supported by event partners. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
