2.3 Sholden : Kent Backyard Ultra Series II

This event is the third round of Kent Backyard Ultra Series II, held at Lillyroo’s Glamping on Sandwich Road near Deal, Kent. The format uses the Backyard Ultra rules: runners complete a 4.167 mile loop, known as a yard, every hour on the hour until only one runner remains. A separate 7 Hour Challenge follows the same route and rules but finishes after a maximum of seven yards, covering just over 29 miles.

The course is a single, flat out-and-back gravel trail across coastal marshland. It is wide, easy to follow and designed to be runnable and accessible for runners and support crews. Each yard has approximately 8 metres of ascent, and the out-and-back layout means runners regularly pass each other during the event.

Entries are capped at 120 runners with the 7 Hour Challenge limited to 10 places. Camping, glamping, campervan and base setup options are available at the venue. A bar and freshly cooked food will be available on site and supporters and crews are welcome. Minimum age is 16 with parental or guardian consent required for under-18s.

Effort is recognised with awards at different milestones, including a medal for completing at least one yard, buckle awards for 100 miles and series distinctions for top performers.
