The Gamble is a race held on a loop of about 1.67 miles where a dice roll at the start determines how many laps each participant will run. The event takes place at 2 Jackson Park Rd in Hendersonville, NC. Registration closes on Fri, Apr 17.

The course is a figure 8 and includes dirt singletrack, short paved pathways, a few hills, some stairs, and stretches of gravel. Mud is possible if it rains within a couple weeks of the event. Course marshals will be positioned where the loop crosses to direct runners and manage interactions with oncoming motor vehicles.
Aid and facilities are centered at the start/end of the loop. The aid station is cupless; participants must bring a personal container for hydration. Aid station items include quesadillas (vegan and dairy), snacks, fruit, water, and Gatorade. Restrooms are not on the course but are located very close to the aid station, in the next building over.
NCMTR members receive free entry via a coupon code from the North Carolina Mountain Trail Runners. Proceeds support The Run828 Foundation and North Carolina Mountain Trail Runners. There are no refunds. The absolute cutoff is six hours after the start; organizers may declare a shorter cutoff if the race distance ends up considerably shorter.
