TreeTops 8.5 Mile Trail Race
The TreeTops Trail Race is the fourth annual running event held in DuPont State Recreational Forest near Brevard and Hendersonville, North Carolina. The in-person trail race covers 8.5 miles on forest trails and includes nearly 1,000 feet of elevation gain. The field is limited to 300 participants.
The event benefits the Friends of DuPont State Forest. An on-site festival follows the race and features vendors, hikes, yoga, biking opportunities, waterfall exploration, and outdoor recreation information. Admission to the festival is free.
Race amenities include hydration stations along the course, basic medical aid, porta-potties, and a post-race refreshment area with snacks. All finishers receive a custom wooden finisher medal on a genuine leather cord. A long sleeve race shirt is included for registrations completed before the shirt deadline; shirts are available for purchase in limited quantities afterward. A virtual 8.5 mile option is offered with mailed swag for participants who do not run in person.
Event policies note that the course is not suitable for jogging strollers and dogs are not permitted. There is no race day registration due to limited connectivity. Registrations are non-refundable, and options such as transferring to the virtual event, deferral, or changing race distance are available under the event's stated policies.
