TreeTops 8.5 Mile
TreeTops is the fourth annual 8.5 mile trail race held in DuPont State Recreational Forest near Brevard, North Carolina, with an event address of 3045 Sky Valley Rd, Hendersonville, NC. The race benefits the Friends of DuPont State Forest and is limited to 300 participants.
The course covers varied trail terrain and includes nearly 1,000 feet of elevation gain. Packet pickup is held at the Picnic Shelter on race day and has a firm cutoff. There is no race day registration due to limited internet and wi-fi connectivity. The course is not suitable for jogging strollers and dogs are not permitted.
Amenities on course and at the finish include hydration stations, medical aid, porta-potties, and a refreshment area with snacks. All finishers receive a custom wooden finisher medal on a genuine leather cord. Registrants who complete registration before the specified deadline receive a TreeTops long sleeve shirt free; shirts are available to purchase afterward for a stated price while supplies last.
A Dupont Forest Festival follows the race the same day with vendors, guided hikes, yoga, biking options, waterfall viewing and outdoor recreation information; festival admission is free. A virtual 8.5 mile option is available and includes finisher swag; transfers to the virtual event within two weeks prior to the race incur a packaging and shipping charge. All registrations are non refundable and transfers between participants are prohibited.
