TreeTops 8.5 Mile
TreeTops 8.5 Mile is the fourth annual trail race held in DuPont State Recreational Forest near Brevard, North Carolina. The in-person event takes place on October 17, 2026 at 3045 Sky Valley Rd, Hendersonville, NC, and is limited to 300 participants. Proceeds benefit the Friends of DuPont State Forest.
The course covers 8.5 mile on forest trails and includes nearly 1,000 feet of elevation gain. The organizers provide hydration stations on course, basic medical aid, porta-potties, and a refreshment area with snacks after finishing. All finishers receive a custom wooden finisher medal on a leather cord. A long sleeve race shirt is included with registrations completed by September 20; shirts are available for purchase in limited quantities after that date.
A virtual 8.5 mile option is available for participants who do not attend in person; virtual entries receive the finisher medal and shirt and may submit results online. There is no race day registration because of limited internet connectivity at the venue. The event policy states that registrations are non refundable but may be transferred to the virtual event, deferred up to 15 days before race day, or changed in distance subject to fees and conditions. Transfers between participants are prohibited. Camping is not allowed in DuPont State Forest. Dogs and strollers are not permitted on the race course.
