The Enoree 100
The Enoree 100 is a 100 miles trail race near Newberry, South Carolina, run on the Enoree Passage of the Palmetto Trail. The route goes north from the Newberry area through the Sumter National Forest to the historic Cross Keys House area in Union County, then returns south to Newberry to complete the out and back.
The course begins near Newberry High School, moves briefly on quiet country roads, and then follows trail corridors that include pine ridges, hardwood bottomlands, crossings of Gilders Creek and Indian Creek, flowy singletrack, and sections shared with the Buncombe Horse Trail. Notable features include Brick House Campground, beaver ponds, hardwood drains, and the lakes at Macedonia, Sedalia, and Johns Creek. The Cross Keys House serves as the official halfway aid station.
Support and logistics include aid roughly every 6 to 8 miles, a recommended checklist of essentials, and a cup less policy so runners must carry a hydration vessel. The course has approximately 6,200 feet of elevation gain and a 32 hour overall cutoff. Weather in February can vary widely, from cold to warm and rainy, so preparation for changing conditions is advised.
The organizer notes strict enforcement of listed cutoffs and recommends carrying a course map, a charged phone, and a headlamp with extra batteries. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
