The Endless Garden – Backyard Ultra Marathon

The Endless Garden 2.0 – A Backyard Ultra Marathon

The event takes place in Welwyn Garden City on 26 to 27 September 2026 at The Waggoners pub and its adjacent field. The race uses a repeated loop format in which runners complete a 4.167-mile (6.71 km) loop every hour; each new loop begins on the hour and competitors must finish within the hour to continue. The race finishes when one runner completes a loop alone.

Entry costs £70 per participant. The entry package includes five drink vouchers (half pints, soft drinks, hot drinks) redeemable by the athlete or their spectators, one commemorative pint glass, and official race timing provided by racesonline.uk. The race winner will receive a prize and recognition.

The course follows a mixture of road, sealed paths and trail and is described as designed to be safe and runnable throughout the night; a route map will be provided ahead of race day. Spectators are welcome at all times. The Waggoners pub will remain open and accessible during the event, with drinks available at bar prices and a special athletes' menu that includes an "Endless Backyard" set menu with pizzas and snacks.

Limited personal and group marquee space is available behind the pub on a first-come, first-served basis, and the adjacent field will be open for marquees and tents. Spaces are unallocated, so early arrival is recommended for those seeking pitching space. A race permit is in place. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
