The Eckington Epic is a self-guided trail race held on Sunday 22 February 2026. The course distance is 7 miles and follows trails around Eckington and Marsh Lane. The route uses woodland trails, fields, farmland and easy bridleways, with runnable sections and several steep climbs. The race is organised under UK Athletics rules.

Format and rules

Runners follow written instructions provided on the day. There are no GPX files and there are no marshals on the route; participants are responsible for their own safety. The event uses chip timing with runners timed out at the start and recorded back in at the finish. Minimum age to enter is 18. No dogs are permitted. Refunds are issued only if the race is cancelled.

Location and entry

The event starts and finishes at Green Lawns Community Centre, Marsh Lane, Sheffield (Marsh Lane address S21 5RX). Entries open 13 November 2025 and close 21 February 2026. Entry fees are £5 for UKA-affiliated runners and £7 for unaffiliated runners. Participants are required to carry suitable clothing and supplies for February weather, including a waterproof jacket, warm layers, water and a working mobile phone with the race director contact saved.
