The Eckington Epic

The Eckington Epic is a self guided trail race of 7 miles on trails around Eckington and Marsh Lane, just south of Sheffield. The route runs through woodland, rolling farmland and easy bridleways, with views toward the Moss Valley and the edges of the Peak District. The course includes several runnable sections and a few testing climbs.

The event starts and finishes at Green Lawns Community Centre in Marsh Lane. Runners receive written route instructions on the day; there are no GPX files and no marshals on the route, so participants are responsible for their own navigation and safety. Runners will be timed out at the start and timed back in at the finish.

Entry costs are listed as £5 for UK Athletics affiliated runners and £7 for non affiliated runners. No dogs are permitted on the course. Refunds will only be given if the race is cancelled. Because the event takes place in February, participants are asked to carry appropriate clothing and supplies such as a waterproof jacket, warm layers, plenty of water and a working mobile phone with the race director's phone number saved.
