The Broken Arrow Skyrace
The Broken Arrow Skyrace is a four day, multi-distance mountain running event held at Palisades Tahoe in Lake Tahoe, California from June 18 to 21, 2026. The event is presented by ACG and follows a Skyrace-style format with much of the terrain above the tree line.
Course characteristics include off-trail scrambling on steep terrain, large amounts of vertical gain and loss at altitude, exposure, bolted hand lines, a ladder section called the "Stairway to Heaven," and potential snow slopes up to 40 degrees. Runners see high-alpine terrain and views of Lake Tahoe.
Distances offered include:
- 46K
- 23K
- 18K
- 11K
- Ascent (Vertical K)
- Iron Face Challenge
- Triple Crown
- Iron Crown
- Kids Race
- Trail Futures NTN (youth, ages 10-18)
The Ascent is a short, steep climb that gains roughly 3,100 feet over about 3 miles to a summit near 9,000 feet; the field is limited and entry includes a runner kit. The Iron Face Challenge includes a via ferrata section with permanent anchors and a suspension-bridge style cable; it is limited and has specific age and weight requirements.
A substantial cash prize purse is allocated to the Ascent, 23K, and 46K events, with age-group awards and a nonbinary podium policy. Online registration closes June 10, 2026; limited on-site registration is available during race weekend. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
