The Ascent Red River Gorge 5K & 10K Trail Races
The event takes place on July 11, 2026, at Natural Bridge Campground in Slade, Kentucky. Races use private property in the Red River Gorge area and start and finish at the campground pavilion. The event was postponed from June 27 to July 11 due to weather.
Distances offered:
- 5K (3.1 miles) - trail race on private property; 4-hour time limit.
- 10K (6.2 miles) - new distance for 2026; 4-hour time limit.
- Virtual Runner/Walker - run or walk locally; donation includes T-shirt and medal.
Entries and logistics note registration fees of $30 for the 5K and 10K and $50 for the virtual option. Online registration is open through July 10 at midnight; there is no race-day registration. Packet pickup is scheduled Friday, July 10 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the campground pavilion, with last-chance pickup race morning from 6:30 to 7:45 am.
Race details include commemorative T-shirts while supplies last, finishers medals, awards for top 3 men and women overall and top 3 men and women in 10-year age groups, free race photos, and a cupless format with water available at the start and refill locations along the course.
