The Ascent Red River Gorge 5K & 10K Trail Races
The Ascent Red River Gorge races take place on private property at the Natural Bridge Campground in Slade, Kentucky, on June 26, 2027. The event is presented by the Rugged Red Race & Adventure Series and uses courses that pass scenic views and arches within Red River Gorge country. The courses include steep trail climbs and are not open to the general public.
Distances offered:
- 5K (3.1 miles)
- 10K (6.2 miles)
- Virtual 5K or 10K option
Both the 5K and 10K have a four-hour completion limit. Awards are presented to the Top 3 male and female overall finishers in both distances. Finishers receive commemorative medals; poly/cotton T-shirts are available while supplies last. A special price of $20 and a swag item are available for participants ages 12 to 18. Minimum age for the in-person trail races is 12 years.
Packet pickup is held at the Natural Bridge Campground pavilion, with a scheduled session Friday, July 25, 2027 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm and a last-chance pickup on race morning from 6:30 to 7:45 am. There is no race day registration. The event is cupless for 2027; participants should bring a water bottle or hydration system. Water will be available prerace and at several refill locations along the course. Route maps are listed as coming soon. Virtual participants receive a commemorative T-shirt and finisher's medal for the stated registration donation. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
