The Ascent Red River Gorge

The Ascent Red River Gorge Trail Races take place in Slade, Kentucky, at the Natural Bridge Campground. This event provides participants with the opportunity to run, walk, or hike on private property within the Red River Gorge area that is otherwise closed to the public. The course features significant trail climbs and offers views of natural arches and scenery.

The following distances are available:

• 5K
• 10K

Both courses start and finish at the campground pavilion. The event is cupless, meaning participants are encouraged to bring their own water bottles or hydration systems to use at the refill stations located along the route. A total time limit of four hours is provided for participants to complete their chosen distance.

Participants receive a finishers medal and a commemorative poly-cotton T-shirt while supplies last. Top finishers in the male and female overall categories for both distances receive awards. The event includes free race photos, music, and food at the finish area. Packet pickup is available at the campground pavilion on the afternoon prior to the race or on the morning of the event. Registration is conducted online and remains open until the day before the race; there is no registration available on the day of the event.
