Event Details

The Rugged Red Trail Half Marathon takes place on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at the Natural Bridge Campground in Slade, Kentucky. This is the 12th edition of the event.

The main event is a 13.1-mile looping trail course on private property within the Red River Gorge. The race supports local volunteer search and rescue teams in the area.

Included Features

Participants receive a commemorative long-sleeved performance shirt and a custom finisher's medal. Post-race amenities include a BBQ lunch, complimentary coffee, and a complimentary beer for racers aged 21 and older (from West Sixth Brewing). A DJ provides music, and free race photos are offered.

There are awards for the overall top three male and female finishers, as well as the top three in multiple age groups. A raffle is held for prizes, and post-race shakeouts or massages are available.

Practical Information

The race is cupless; runners must bring their own water bottle or hydration system. Water and Shaklee hydration are available at the start and at five points on the course. Teams of five or more receive a $5 discount per member.

Packet pickup is available on Thursday in Lexington at J&H Running Company and on Friday at the Natural Bridge Campground pavilion. A final packet pickup occurs on race morning at the venue.
