The Alpenglow 100 : Valemount, BC
The Alpenglow 100 is a trail race series held in Valemount, British Columbia, on the ancestral unceded territories of the Secwepemc Nation. Routes cross high alpine terrain above 2300 m and provide sightline views toward Mount Robson and surrounding ranges.
Distances offered:
- 38 km with 1800 m ascent
- 65 km with 3300 m ascent
- 100 km with 5000 m ascent There is also a kids race of about 1 km that is non-competitive and not timed.
Aid stations are positioned along each course; the 38 km, 65 km, and 100 km races have different numbers of stations and varying access to runner drop bags. The 38 km has no drop bag access, the 65 km allows one drop bag, and the 100 km allows two drop bags with multiple access points.
All distances require mandatory gear suited for high alpine and variable summer conditions, including a waterproof hooded jacket with a waterproof membrane, space blanket or emergency bivy, whistle, drinking and food supplies, a running pack and a collapsible cup. The 100 km additionally requires two functioning light sources. The event operates cup-free; runners must bring their own cup. Crew access is restricted and differs by distance.
