About the Mount Robson Marathon
The Mount Robson Marathon is a community-oriented event held in Mount Robson Provincial Park, British Columbia. The races take place on the Berg Lake Trail, a world-class hiking destination located within the Fraser-Fort George region. All running events start at the Mount Robson Welcome Centre and follow the Robson River on out-and-back routes.
The event features several different distances to accommodate various preferences:
- Ultra Marathon: follows the entire Berg Lake Trail with 825 m of elevation gain.
- Half Marathon: follows a double-track trail past Kinney Lake to the gravel flats.
- Kinney Lake 12 km: reaches a turnaround point at the Kinney Lake outflow bridge.
- Flatlander 5 km: consists of predominantly flat open road and a wide trail section.
- Kids’ Fun Run: a free event held around the Mount Robson Info Centre.
The Ultra Marathon route passes through several environmental zones, with its turnaround point located just past the shores of Berg Lake. Most of the climbing occurs during a 5 km section known as the Valley of a Thousand Falls. Aid and water stations are positioned along the trails for participant support.
The Berg Lake Trail was impacted by flooding in 2021 and has since been prepared once again for this event. The course variety ranges from flat road surfaces in the 5 km event to more technical mountain terrain in the longer distances. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
