Takshanuk Ridge Run : 8th Annual
The Takshanuk Ridge Run is an 11.5 mile trail race in Haines, Alaska that starts at the 7 Mile Saddle Trailhead and finishes in the center of Haines. The course climbs through temperate rainforest and follows an alpine ridgeline before descending toward town.
A shuttle is available to transport racers to the trailhead from Alaska Backcountry Outfitters, located across from the Haines Visitor Center. Registration opens April 2, 2026 and closes July 26, 2026; the registration fee is $40. After the race there will be beer and root beer at Haines Brewing Company and an award ceremony there. Race profits will be donated to the Haines Glacier Bears middle and high school cross country programs.
The race takes place in wilderness and bear country. Mandatory equipment includes a wind jacket, food and water, a waste bag or backpack, and bear spray. There are no aid stations on the course, so racers must carry their own supplies and pack out any trash. External aid is not permitted except in emergencies. The race director may modify the route, reschedule, or cancel the event for safety reasons. Violations of race rules may result in disqualification. Organizers and the local running club will not be held liable for accidents or loss; participants are responsible for any damage they cause.
