Sweltering Summer Ultra
The Sweltering Summer Ultra is an eight hour track event held in Pittsfield, Massachusetts at Clapp Park, 215 West Housatonic Street, on August 8, 2026. Registration closes August 6. A virtual option may be offered depending on interest.
The course is a certified dirt and cinder track with a 0.355 mile loop. Runners start counter-clockwise and change direction at the four hour mark. Participants may use the full width of the track and run on the outside grass surface. All runners receive a marathon split after the first 74 laps.
Chip timing is provided with a live leaderboard for real-time results. On-course support includes a trackside bottle drop system with individual table space, a no-contact refill option for water and sports drink, and prepackaged items. Participants may establish personal areas trackside set back three feet from the outside edge. Ice pops will be available mid-morning and pizza will be available for afternoon pickup.
Awards are given to overall champions and across age divisions 0-12, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, and 80+. Lifetime longevity and mile awards are also presented. Youth under 20 receive a 50 percent discount; repeat participants and certain service members receive percentage discounts. Proceeds benefit the AYJ Fund.
