Sweltering Summer Ultra

Sweltering Summer Ultra is an annual eight hour track event held in Pittsfield, Massachusetts on August 8, 2026. The event is organized by BURCS and takes place at Clapp Park, 215 West Housatonic Street. Registration closes August 6, 2026.

The race is contested on a certified dirt and cinder track that measures 0.355 mile per loop. Runners start counter-clockwise and the field changes direction at the four hour mark. Competitors may run the full track width and may use the outside grass surface.

Chip timing is provided with a live leaderboard for real time results. The official time limit for the event is eight hours; no partial laps count. The format permits participants to run or walk laps during the event and is described as walker friendly.

Aid operations include a signature bottle drop with individual table space trackside and a no-contact bottle refill system for water and sports drink. Participants may set up personal crew areas along the course provided they remain three feet from the outside edge of the track. Organizers plan prepackaged snacks, ice pops mid morning, and pizza available for afternoon pickup.

Awards are given to overall champions and in age divisions 0-12, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, and 80 plus. There are also lifetime longevity and mile awards. Youth under 20 receive fifty percent off with code YOUTH50. Repeat participants with at least three prior finishes may use code SERIALRUNNER for a ten percent discount. Teachers active and retired service members and first responders may use code SERVICE for a ten percent discount.
