Sweltering Summer Ultra

This event is an eight hour track ultramarathon at Clapp Park, 215 West Housatonic Street, Pittsfield, Massachusetts. The course is a certified dirt and cinder loop of 0.355 miles. Runners start counter-clockwise and the direction switches at the four hour mark. Laps are counted and no partial laps are credited. Participants may run the full width of the track or use the outside grass surface.

A time limit of eight hours applies to all participants. The event is walker friendly and entrants may run or walk as many laps as they choose during the time limit. Chip timing with a live leaderboard is provided for real-time results.

Aid station operations use a signature bottle drop and a no contact bottle refill system. Prepackaged supplies will be available. Runners may set up personal aid areas along the course if placed at least three feet from the outside edge of the track. Ice pops are offered mid morning and pizza will be available for afternoon pickup.

Awards include overall champion prizes, age division awards across standard age bands from youth through 80 plus, and lifetime longevity and mile awards. Proceeds benefit the AYJ Fund. A 12 hour virtual option may be offered with eligible dates August 1 to August 14; virtual runners must provide proof of distance and are not eligible for age group awards. Refunds may be deferred one year if requested in writing before July 1.
