Sunset Bay Trail Runs

Sunset Bay Trail Runs take place at Sunset Bay State Park near Coos Bay/Charleston, Oregon on August 29, 2026. The event offers multiple distances on trails along the Oregon Coast.

• 1-Mile Beach Fun-run

Course material, including maps and GPX files, is provided for the routes. The course is primarily off road and follows trail and cliff sections along the coast, with some open-to-traffic areas. There is at least one aid station on course serving water, gels, and snacks; the 15K passes the aid station twice and the half marathon passes it three times. Restrooms are available at about 4 miles for 15K and half-marathon participants.

Packet pickup and the start/finish area are located at the gazebo on the far south end of Sunset Bay. Packet pickup is race morning only; participants are asked to arrive at least 30 minutes before their race. Water and Gatorade will be available at the start/finish and snacks at the finish. Runners are encouraged to carry a bottle to reduce waste and to leave any course waste at the aid station or carry it to the finish.

Event rules include RRCA sanctioning and restrictions for safety: no headphones, no bicycles, no animals, and no jogging strollers during the race. Ribbons are awarded to the top three overall and in each age group. A $50 gift card will be awarded by random drawing in each race; winners must be present.
